Hated the New Orkut Themes? - Just Disable Them!

Some days before Orkut introduced 18 new themes to its new interface. But this can happen that a product is useful for one, but not for the other. No problem! Just disable the the orkut themes & surf orkut without themes!

New orkut themes are just awesome. But if you didn’t liked them you can disable them. However if your internet connection is too slow for the new themes, you have another reason to disable them.

To disable them just click on Themes on the homepage &then check Browse orkut without themes.

You are done. Now you would not see themes in any profile on orkut!

Update Your Twitter Account from Orkut via TwitKut!

Yes guys you heard it right. You can now update your Twitter status with being active onto orkut! Ankit Ahuja sometime back introduced a new application to orkut with the help of which you can update your Twitter account with the help of orkut without even logging into orkut!

With Twitkut you can even see friends tweets. But friends here refer to only the people who are using twitkut application. But still you can tweet from this application.

But one drawback is you cannot update your orkut status with the help of Twitkut. Though you can visit the application page & post the recent tweet to your updates. But your status update will not get changed with the help of Twitkut. You need to manually do it.

Orkut recently secretly added a new feature to orkut. When you join any community, it will be visible to all of your friends on their homepage as an update.

This is actually an attempt to bump communities on Orkut as the integrity of communities was somewhere got lost with the addition of new features like Status update as when you update your status, people will comment on it & it will act like a forum. This way no one would be interested in going to the communities.

Orkut Launched 18 Themes for New Orkut!

Yes you heard it right. Orkut added 18 new themes for the new interface of Orkut keeping the its additional colours. This is a great move as the profile will be yours again!

To access these themes just navigate to this page or click on the themes option on your homepage!

Don’t worry if you can’t see the theme option on your homepage as Orkut has not activated this feature on orkut profiles. You can try navigating to this page.

Google recently launched a new Orkut extension for google chrome. everyone was deliberately waiting for this as there was a very tough competition coming from other social networks like Facebook & twitter. Hopefully this might give a bump to the number of users on Orkut as many were migrating from orkut!

About The Extension

The orkut chrome extension allows you to receive orkut updates and scrap notifications. The popup menu allows you to quickly jump to a friends’ page, search on orkut, visit your home/scrap/photos pages and share sites on orkut.

You can install this by directly going to this page. Then click on install as indicated in the screenshot below. Though you need to have Google chrome 4.0 installed on your machine.

How to Use?

First copy your profile url by visiting your profile.
Then paste the URL in the widget on OrkutKnol & then click the Go Button ( >>).
Now chose your new Shortened URL for your profile.
Now Select whether you would like to register anonymously or by registering. Just select register anonymously for fastening your work. If you would like to edit your profile URL afterwards then you can select to register.
